Dr. John P. Cole, MD, has been a transformative figure in hair restoration surgery since 1990, pioneering follicular unit transplantation and microscopic dissection. He became a diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS) in 1998, contributing as a board director and examination committee member.
As an educator, he chaired programs and conferences for the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), and in 2003, taught the first FUE conference. Dr. Cole innovated in FUE, opening Europe's first clinics and Asia's in Seoul by 2007. His inventions, including the complex motion profile device and various punch designs, have been widely replicated. His company, Cole Instruments, distributes these globally.
An authority in regenerative medicine since 2007, Dr. Cole developed advanced PRP methods and introduced topical finasteride in the U.S. He champions using mesenchymal stem cells and other advanced treatments for various alopecia forms. His contributions earned him the ISHRS Gold Follicle in 2013 and a Lifetime Achievement Award from FUE Europe in 2019.
An active speaker and trainer, Dr. Cole shares his expertise at international forums and has penned numerous scientific publications. He practices in Atlanta, GA, and New York, NY, and is editing a seminal textbook on advancements. Dr. Cole holds seven patents and remains a leading advocate for FUE and regenerative medicine serving as AIRMES vice president.
